New Friend

I discovered a new friend these last few days.  The Kindle.  With the snow days and all I was looking for something to do.  Basically skirting my responsibilities.  While reading many different blogs I happen on this one about a christian author and before I knew it I was reading one of her books.  She has this series called Discarded Heroes.  Military stuff.  I read number two and while I did not have to read one to understand two, I did anyway.  I realized how much I actually enjoy reading.  Since I read sooooo much with the kiddos for their school, I didn't think about my leisure time.  Now I'm back to being addicted.  Looking for my next book to read.  I finally picked up a book I started a looooong time ago.  Hopefully I will get through it this time.

Meeting with Lady Friends

Barb and I are trying to put together a mini retreat with the group of us gather once every other month.  While we were texting and emailing back and forth she invited me out to meet up with Linda and Jenn.  It was very last minute but also very enjoyable.  I was half thinking no, as I hate the cold (only single digits here) and I was tired.  But I decided it would be fun.  It was a nice relaxing time at Linda's house with tea and desserts.  We just chit-chatted about whatever came to mind and before we knew it it was after 11 pm. We all needed to go as our carriages were about to turn back into pumpkins.

Summary

Well I can hardly believe it has been a week since my last post.  The time went by faster than I thought.  Not because a lot was happening, mind you.  It was a fairly normal time.  We had more snow causing delayed opening for Stephen which in turn causes disruption in our homeschooling.  Plus it usually has Bill home.  Now I love my family but I also love order and balance too!  Wednesday brought a new session for Joshua at the farm.  Boy does he really enjoy this.  Abs and I were at my in-laws where we learned how to crochet.  Yup you read right, I learned me a crochet chain.  Please don't ask me specifics of any kind, I am just along for the ride.  You see Abs expressed interest in learning and her grandma said she would be able to teach some basic stitches (not even sure they call it that).  So that puts me along for the ride.  It should be interesting.  I told Bill that I will be like Lyle the Kindly Viking (veggie tales) and make potholders!!!

Friday was ice skating with the homeschool group.  How I dreaded going.  I was completely tired and wiped out and I had no desire to go. I did succumb and it was therapy.  I enjoy seeing the other moms and hearing their craziness.  Makes mine feel normal!   Well at the end  a friend invited my children to go home with her and her kids!  Good and bad as we were hosting home fellowship that night and I was going to use the kids for help with cleaning the house.  I did let them go and vowed to not let that happen again.  We must clean up on Thursday of ice skating week.   Friday night ended with home fellowship.  We are going through book of Daniel.  Some good stuff!  And now heading into the end times stuff.  Can't wait!!!

The weekend was spent around the house.  Sunday especially was spent in front of the TV watching football.  Unfortunately  our beloved Jets did not win and now we must wait another year.  Sadness was the theme in this house Sunday evening.  My young one was in tears!  He even woke up Monday with more tears.  Bless his sensitive soul.

Monday Merriment

Today being a little bit of a holiday, I took advantage.  Told the young ones they could have the day off and Bill, my parents, and I went to the Home Show at the Philadelphia Convention Center.  Being new homeowners we received 4 free tickets.  Today was the best day for all of us.  We met there and was able to walk around the place in 2+ hours.  Not that spectacular of a show but it was a nice day out.  About this time it is lunch and I was hungry so we walked over to Reading Terminal.  A cool market place.  We were going to eat there but it was obvious that my mom was not too thrilled.  She kept saying don't you want to go to a real restaurant and sit down somewhere to eat.  My Dad who works close by there was taking us to a diner that is inside the terminal.  She was not having it, so off to a Sports Bar.  This worked to our advantage as they had TV's with sports on them.  The men were happy.  I too enjoyed myself.  Had this amazing pizza egg roll.  May sound disgusting but oh so delicious!!!!  Also had a turkey BLT on a preztel roll.  Love the philly pretzel.

Came home had a quiet rest of the afternoon and then out to meet with my lady friends for a Mom's night out.  We try to get together periodically so this year I decided that we just put it on the calendar every other month the third Monday and whoever can make it, great, and if you are busy, it's not too far away for another gathering.  Really do enjoy this group of ladies and am so thankful they are in my life.  As I was driving over to meet with them I was praying and thanking God for bringing them into my life!!!  As I don't have sisters, it is nice to have sisters-in-Christ.  (and I am blessed with more than just came tonight.)  Thanking my Lord for that too!!!

Fun in the... snow!

We did get some snow here, finally.  I know other parts of the world have already been hit.  On the day after Christmas ours arrived.  The children enjoyed playing in the white stuff.

Christmas Time with Sheas

Due to the snow we received we had to postpone the Christmas festivities with the Shea clan.  We were able to come together on the 1st to exchange presents.  Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure.
