This weekend was a nice relaxing weekend. I enjoyed Saturday with a little nap. Bill and I went shopping for some new shirts for his new job Monday!
Sunday was church and then the young ones had some friends over. They enjoyed just a few short hours together but they made the most of it. Playing with horses - the girls. Playing on Wii - the boys. Then it was off to the pool for everyone. But due to bad weather and time constraints we had to cut it short.
Let me back up a bit. Church was great! Loved the message. Going through the book of Ephesians and we specifically stopped on verse 4 of Chapter 6. It says: "4Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." While it was said to fathers, we were reminded that it applies to all of us who have any type of contact with children. What truly hit home for me was the approach in our discipline. Doing it all in love and in the name of the Lord. I know that I can have a tendency to be a little abrupt and appear harsh. I was greatly reminded to come in with a more tender approach. Our goal is not to break the child but unfold the child as to who they are called to be. I really liked that!!!! Particularly the unfolding part. I always would think of it as a molding, but molding to what? In the past my answer was Christ - which is good, but it should be more of an unfolding of who that child is in Christ. I pray that I am able to incorporate this into my disciplining. Sooooo loved church today!!! Thanks, Pastor Gregg!
Thanks for the lesson! Always a good reminder.
