Chopped (Food Network Style)

We have been talking about doing a version of chopped with desserts only.  Today we finally accomplished that goal.  The 3 main ingredients were banana, pineapple, and cajun-style cashews.  Here are their creations.

Joshua used graham cracker, grilled his pineapple and then added whipped cream.  Great presentation.  Good taste not enough taste of all ingredients at same time.  Not bad for first time.

Abigail used graham crackers too, but she also added some cookie crumbles and lemon cream sorbet.  She had the best taste.  All the ingredients were easier to taste in her dish.

Stephen was most creative.  He tried to melt some chocolate in microwave and he added vanilla syrup to his pineapple chunks. He biggest set back was that he was too piece-meal.  And his chocolate was too bitter.

Here is Abs preparing her dessert.

Stephen waiting for chocolate from microwave.  This took way too much of his time.

Josh had Daddy's help with the grill for the pineapple.

Plating the dishes!

Bonding

Ahhh!   Friday was a very impromptu get together with Barb and two of her children.  I had to email her in regards to something and then we started discussing when we could get together next week.  The next thing I know she texts me and asks about that day.   And the wheels set in motion.   It was a great time of relaxation and enjoyment on my part.  I really enjoyed having a friend over for some time.  They came and stayed for 3 hours!!!   It was great.

She also helped me because Stephen had a friend stay over for two days and he lives close to her so she was able to take him back home for me!   I know Stephen was in his glory to have a friend to pal around with and go different places.  They went to the movies, park, store, even the train tracks.

It was a good way to end a very crazy week.   Now back to work.

Organizing and some bonding time

Even though Wednesday was free movie day (30 minutes away), I opted to not go.  It was a movie we had seen already but I know it was FREE.   I had some serious organizing to do here.   There was so much stuff from before vacation and then a whole bunch of stuff from when we got back.  (BTW - there is still the issue of mail - which I haven't received yet!)   It did take me about 4 hours to do what I had on my list.  Oh yes, there is still more.   I know what you're thinking how on earth can there be that much stuff to do for that long in a little apartment.  Well surprise this little lady here knows how to shove and stuff things in places.

The really cool part of the day was when Barb and kids were able to stop by and hang out for a couple of hours.   The kids were even able to get in to the pool here as the rain did hold off.   They really all have a great time together.  But just like us they felt the time was not long enough.  Oh well that means we need to plan again!  hahahahaha
