Laser

Today my youngest had to have laser surgery at the dentist.  He had a procedure called a frenectomy.   This is Joshua waiting for the Laser part.   He persevered through the needle!   Such a trouper.  For the record, he hates pain!!!!

This is him during the procedure.

Teeth part ?

I have lost count as to how many times I have been to the dentist in the past year.  I know I posted that this was going to take a little while since I have such bad teeth.  Well Thursday evening was like no other I had ever experienced, an extraction!!!   I needed to have a wisdom tooth removed in order to save another tooth.  It made sense to lose one to save one.  The other alternative was lose both; that was not an option.

It went surprisingly well.  I was all done in 45 minutes.  I was a little anxious about this one.  But God is so good!  I was praying on the ride over and while I was still a little nervous, I had full confidence that it would go well.  And it did!!!

My jaw is still very sore and tender.  I will be on my liquid diet for today and possibly into tomorrow.   Which stinks because I love food!!!!

Ortho

Let the teeth fixing begin.  She is a trooper.  She had these rubber bands placed into her teeth over a week ago.  We had scheduled the next appointment on Wednesday but due to the snow we needed to change the time.  So here we are on Friday getting impressions done.  In all honesty, I have no ideas what all is happening as I never had braces.  She asks me all sorts of questions and I am unable to answer her.

I realized a few years back how high her tolerance to pain is.  So when she complains it's not good!   So far all is well.  But we have not gotten to the hard part yet.  I have been reading the pamphlets with her as a reminder of whats to come.   Let's pray that all we are doing will be a good thing and she is able to handle and maintain all the is involved.  I worry about her age.  She is young!   But the Lord knows what she can handle so I will rest in that.  It is a reminder that we need often.

Side trip

Upon cleaning my teeth this morning, I felt a little pop occur in the general area of the temporary crown!! Uh-oh! It did not completely come out but was wiggling all morning. In order not to have my troubles get worse I had my banana smoothie again. I did call the dentist office and they were able to squeeze me in to be re-cemented. Oh happy day. Just a week away from the permanent one!

Wacky Wednesday

Wacky due to the fact that I was a taxi driver for my two eldest. I had to take Stephen to the orthodontist for the records/x-ray appointment first thing in the morning, 8:30 am. After an hour there it was home for some school work then back to the orthodontist with Abigail for her 11:00 am appointment. After her hour we go back home - very hungry!! We have some lunch and then go about finishing school.
At about 2 pm my realtor calls to see if I can go out to look at a few houses at about 5 pm. I said yes and he comes to pick me up as we were hoping Bill would be able to meet with us. (He didn't). The first house we did not even enter - did not like the lot location. (And you know it is all about location, location, location!) Next house was more promising but I felt that some of the rooms were too tight. For example, we could not all be in the kitchen eating together as our table for 6 would not fit! The final and third house we saw was very promising but after further inspection, by myself, I realized that there are things that would be very expensive to change. For instance, you could not go out the mud room door (to the outside) without pushing the dryer out of the way. (HUH!)
By the time I arrived back home it was after 6 pm and I still needed to make dinner. Very hungry people kept asking when it would be dinner time. At 7 pm we ate. The children then needed to take some much needed showers!

Smooth(ie) Day

Another phase of the root canal occurred this morning. I actually prefer to have these appointments early so that I can get home and we can start our day. Have the temporary crown in while I wait for the permanent one to be made. I go back in 2 1/2 weeks for that. Meanwhile I need to be cautious and careful about what I eat. No hard candies or sticky food should be consumed lest the temporary come out. I decided on making myself a smoothie to ease my hunger and also prevent myself from eating something wrong. (Plus my gums are sensitive!) I made a banana granola smoothie. YUMMY!!!! Oh so simple here goes:

1. some ice cubes
2. banana
3. milk
4. yogurt (vanilla) 1 cup
5. buzz granola (no sugar) 1 cup

All ingredients are organic and purchased at Whole Foods. Very delicious and very filling. Enjoy!!!

Drilling away!

This morning began my root canal work on tooth number 13 to be exact. This will be about a 3-4 week process. Today is stage one. Which thankfully went smoothly. The dentist actually told me it was "a routine root canal." Those were wonderful words to my ears. Remember how I said this makes number 4, well in the past I usually had some sort of "problem" arise during the procedure. So today was a blessing! As I write this I am still numbed up to the nose! So there is not much pain. However, I perceive some discomfort in my near future. More along the lines of a lot of throbbing inside my mouth. They suggested I stay away from hard food and avoid chewing on that side as much as possible. I am thinking liquid diet over the next few days!! I don't want anything going wrong.
