That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

As I mentioned in an earlier blog my parents took my kids on Monday night in order to go up to Jones Beach in NY for the day Tuesday.   At 9:30 pm I decided to call to see how the day had gone for everyone involved.   I called my Dad on his cell and they were still driving home.   He had said everything went well especially when Stephen rescued Pop-pop (him).   I think he is referring to the ocean as my Dad is not a strong swimmer.   Uh no, he proceeds to tell me how he and Stephen were carrying the cooler and he felt lightheaded and had to stop.   But it was too late as in minutes he passed out.  My cousin JeanMarie (who met them at the beach as she lives very close) started yelling for help and grabbed her cell phone to call 911.   (They put her on hold).   My Mom also starts yelling for help.  (A nice family came over with water bottles and were pouring water all over my Dad.)   Stephen ran to the lifeguards and told them that a man had passed out and it may have been his heart.  By the time Stephen got back to where my Dad was the paramedics (who work at first aid at the beach) were working on him and he was even awake and responsive.  They took him to the little room that they have on the boardwalk to make sure he was okay.   They even suggested he go to the ER but he refused.  You see he did not want to spoil the kids' day at the beach!    

The younger ones were down by the water and did not see any of this take place.   They only saw all the people around my Dad and he assured them that he was okay.   For the rest of the day my Stephen did not leave Pop-pop's side.   He stayed with him the entire day.  And when Joshua came out of the water he moved his chair right next to Pop too!   

The title is because me Dad was staying that the cooler knocked him out!  Which it did!   He tried to pull and carry this very big double cooler that was loaded with all their drinks, food, and ice!  We need to continually remind that man that he is no spring chicken!    I saw him work too hard when we were packing up the house!    I know we all tend to forget that as we get older  we are unable to do all that we once could.  But he did put a little fear in my kids.   Thankfully all ended very well.

They do have a doctor's appointment set up for Thursday evening and they will be getting an EKG done to make sure all is well and normal.  

Grandma's Place

Ok so Monday we went to the pool here at the complex.   Not crowded at all.  I was able to read a book while the kids went into the pool.  Stephen left after 40 minutes.  He felt the pool was too dirty.   I understood his concerns but did not agree with his assessment.   The rest of us stay for 3 hours.  It was a nice relaxing time.  The only thing was that the sun block lotion was almost empty so there are some spots/blotches of sunburn on my body.   

I still have a lot to accomplish since getting back home from vacation and leaving soon for Ohio to pack up the house, but I figured all those things will still be there tomorrow and then some.  Let me take the kids to have some fun.

Tuesday's thought was to go visit Grandma and Aunt Dee.  This was a good idea.  The kids got to share all their fun moments from our vacation.   They even got to swim before the sky opened up and rain poured down hard and fast.   We even tried to play croquet.  We did not get too much done but had a little fun.    The kids even got Aunt Dee to play some cards.  It was a good time for them.  The time went very fast as it always does.

The kids had a fiesta at Grandma and Pop-pops house.  With Aunt Dee around and on Saturday, Uncle Kevin, Allie, Uncle Jason, Tiffany, and Jaide all stopped over.  The house was packed.   That's what makes it fun, fun, fun.   They swam in the pool both days and they got very red.  The top of the shoulders for they boys are lobster.  They are extremely tender.  (Tomorrow this Mama must find some Aloe lotion.)  

They did not get too much sleep either.  There were several movies that they watched.   Lots of Wii playing.  Even some DS.  Jaide slept over too, so her and Abigail were awake until 2:00 AM.  I am hoping for lots of sleep and rest this evening.  Never good to begin the week sleep-deprived.   Thankfully we are nearing the end of school.  

They also all received hair cuts.  Bill too!!!

That Grandma was busy, busy, busy!!!

More Time Alone

With the kids still being gone most of Sunday, we enjoyed a nice little breakfast together.   Off to church, were everybody was asking about the whereabouts of the kids.   I was teaching as this month is my month on and Bill was in the sanctuary by himself.  Left church and came home to put pot roast and potatoes into the crock pot.  (Love the crockpot meals!!!)   We then decided to enjoy another meal out without the kids.  (It is cheaper!)   Bill wanted an egg sandwich.   You would think this would be easy.... not so much on a Sunday afternoon.  The various places we tried ended the breakfast at 11:00 am.  Just wrong, I tell ya.  We used our beloved phones to search out a Bob Evans.   Drove the 10 minutes in excitement to find out that it is bordered shut.   We were very very unhappy.  You see in Ohio Bob Evans are on every corner.   (Curse you NJ!)  We were so hungry at this time we opted for Uno.  Salad and flatbread pizza for the both of us.  The food was okay.  It is hard to enjoy any food when you have your heart set on something else.  Back home to finish laundry and get my much needed nap.  The kids and my parents arrived back here about 5:00 pm.  We ate the dinner.  Which was very very tender and juicy.   Then before we realized it was time for the grandparents to leave as they do have an hour drive.   The kids get ready for bed and we all say, "goodnight."
