Field Trip

Welcome back kids!  This morning we need to get up, get dressed, and get out.   It's field trip day.  I love being here for that aspect.  It is  a great homeschool group here that LOVES field trips and what a great way for us to jump back in.   We were at the Kelton House in Columbus.  For those of you who are not familiar, it was a stop on the Underground Railroad.   It was 2 hours this morning.  Which was a crazy morning!  On the phone before we got out.   Then the directions were not good as I could not find the street and those I could find I turned the wrong way on!  Argh!    But back to the house -  this photo was taken in the dining room, the table was set up for breakfast.  A tidbit - each meal had a different set of plates!

This photo is of the main hallway.  Clock and furniture real, wall paper and rugs - replicas.
Some of the group listening to interesting information from the guide.
Master bedroom.  Carla and I decided to answer the questions.  Yeah, not good as they wanted the kids to answer.  Anyway, in here learned about bathing and the clothes.  Man they were tiny.
The tidbit in this photo is that each door on the furniture piece has 13 panes to represent 13 colonies.
I can't say enough what a great day it was.  Truly good to be back and be in a house!    The day went very fast, I am hoping that all the days don't!

  1. Yes, good to have you back! And so glad you guys came, especially after a long day of driving on sunday. I did love the Kelton House too, but our 4pm coffee time ties it!
